Cedars and aging cigars?

I’ve heard that cedar helps cigars age better? What’s the reasoning behind it, in your opinion? Is this a case of mistaken identity on my part? – Brian M. via email

Everyone has their own ideas about that, but regardless of whether or not cedar is used, a cigar will age well. Some individuals enjoy the taste cedar leaves give to cigars, but I don’t think it makes one any better or worse.
