Humidor Review: Audew Humidor 150 Count

I have a review and an excellent overview of perhaps who would be interested in this brand new wine adore electric humidor; we’ll get into that. This is from Audew, a relatively young firm. It is from my top cooler humidors (check it too!).

Upgraded: now this unit has been rebranded and called NeedOne. You can read my review.

A little history of cooler humidors

There are a lot of these enterprises available. China’s same regions in Taiwan, rebranded under many different names, produce practically every sort of wine, door, or electric humidor accessible.

And this is only one of the newest entrants to the market with a completely new design.

The generations of cooler humidors

audew-150_3

Now, the first generations were wine coolers, and that is how the name was derived. They modified them by eliminating the wire racks and placing them in wood racks to create a cigar humidor or a wineador.

The first generation was still reliant on actual refrigeration units rather than thermoelectric cooling, resulting in significant humidity variations. They were not very good. The second generation made things a little better, but they were essentially four bottles of wine at their core.

You can see evidence of that in the temperature ranges they could keep; they were typically a lot lower than you’d want or need for storing cigars. Degrees are generally represented by C. They were not designed particularly for the US market. This one changes everything, and as you can see, it’s in a different shape.

The majority of them are wider versions or at the very least a square, and this is a rectangle in terms of depth. Now we’ll go through the benefits and drawbacks. I’ll tell you what you need to know.

What I do like and dislike in Audew Humidor

So you have the choice to make for yourself if this unit is a good fit for you. To begin with, the 150 Cigar Humidor is what they’re referring to. This will only be true if you fill it to the brim.

I mean, you could use the Florida ceiling as long-term storage for things like pillows and towels. Don’t use a humidifier and throw in some boveda packs; you can get in 150 Toros or Repuestos or something similar.

Still, in reality, for you and I for individuals that are going in and buying cigars and adding new cigars and attempting to fit, we have a hundred or so who can reach up the shelves without everything falling like Fred Flintstone’s closet, no bowling balls on the feet by 100.

So, can we fit a box? Different boxes will fit. These appear to be Toros. They’re six and five-eighths inches by 44 inches. So it’s not like you haven’t seen anything before. And that is far too big. That about describes your box limit. We do booster boxes, Corona boxes, and five packs, there is no problem. You can Tetris as much as you want in the sky.

Refrigerator magnet seal

It’s got a great refrigerator magnet seal. Perfect. There’s no better than this. It includes a useful handle on the side. I like the new design where you simply pry it apart with your fingers rather than the older model where you had to pull it apart with your hands. This is nice; you just grab it and open it.

When you do, the magnet seals are often as strong because they’re designed for bottles of wine, which are quite hefty. If you just put cigars in it, it’s not too heavy.

With the way it’s built, you have to slide the entire thing to open the door. nope, this is not a one-handed design with just enough magnet pole to keep it closed. That smells wonderful.

Shelves

The front of the closet is open. The shelves are made of cedar. It’s black. I love that I don’t care for silver furnishings or having many silver and black accents. The black looks fantastic. Although this is a disadvantage, it is typical. To remove any shelving or drawer, the door must be opened 180 degrees.

You can see that they are rather wide instead of thin compared to the box over there. It’s a very appropriate size, and it has a little halt. So if you want to display your scars on it, they won’t roll off the back.

They typically stick slightly, and what I discovered is that when you’re putting them back in the slots, give it a little nudge upwards.

They don’t stick because they’re lubricated, and they slide in and out with ease. If you let it get clogged, especially the drawer here, it might jam up.

We don’t have a lot of those useless analog gauges anymore; instead, we now have the typical decorative useless analog gauge. It’s total rubbish; no matter how much money you spend on a human or whether you buy your pretty bs gauge, use a digital, and be just fine.

As you can see I added a digital hygrometer, if you want to buy it, check on my link (aff Amazon).

Humidification

This is so little that you won’t need any electricity to forget your Cigar Oasis 3.0; you’d take up so much room. Humidification. It’s a bit excessive; all you need is five or 680-gram boveda packs, not even the entire brick. If you’ve got this full of cigars, say about 50 cigars in a humidor, take 4-5 boveda packs.

Drawer or Shelves?

The bottom drawer is particularly useful. I prefer drawers to shelves in these situations. It’s better than shelves because it gives you control over when you’re putting your cigars in.

The shelves have a little bump on the back, but the drawer allows you to toss your items any way you want and be ready to go.

audew-150_4

With the shelves, they’ll roll. You may put them two or three deep, sure. However, they do move around a lot. Nothing is keeping them together in Cielo; nothing is keeping them in there either.

So, for example, you may want to turn the shelves around. So they get caught in the tiny grooves, but you’ll have to take your shelves all the way out to access whatever is in the back. It takes some thought to how you’re going to store them. Of course, they’re all optional.

You may remove the contents and utilize this as Tupper door storage; keep the lids off if you like. If you want to store boxes on their ends, though, you need to pack them carefully so that it resembles a tiny air-conditioned space in your head.

Temperature

That’s all it’s intended to do: provide you with a little microenvironment of the air conditioning cycle. And as far as the range goes, these are not high-performance air conditioners. They’re not meant to be used in heatwaves like today’s temperature of 92 degrees Fahrenheit.

That’s as far as they can go if you have a room in your house that is hotter than the rest, but you still use air conditioning; it may reach into the 80s.

Or maybe you have, you know, an upstairs that you’re keeping at a higher temperature than the downstairs or whatever the case may be. But it’s still a semi-controlled environment.

Because they’re not going to fluctuate depending on what the place is doing up to a specific point, these are ideal for that. Because they’re not designed for it, you can’t get too hot in them. Not at all. These aren’t made for anything like that.

This isn’t a converted wine unit, as I previously stated. It’s solely intended for cigars and has Fahrenheit readings only.

It shows you the current temperature, the current interior temperature, right now. So it’s only 81 out. It’s humid, seems hotter than that. But that is what it is right now.

The lowest temperature was 54. And it reaches a maximum of 74 degrees. These are simply light-touch buttons; you don’t have to press them hard, they’re wonderful.

LED Light

This is a tiny LED light. It isn’t very bright, especially if you have anything on the top shelf. It’s simply a little tiny led up there. But the nice little aesthetic effect is nothing to be concerned about. If you want to use LED strips on the door and not the dome, you can connect them to it. That’s a fun project could be.

If you unplug it, the temperature will automatically drop to 64 degrees, which is ideal for a cigar. So you don’t have to be concerned about that on older models. They might default to 50 degrees Fahrenheit. So you had to have some sort of backup power supply if you didn’t want to worry about whether your electricity was going out.

Which temperature should I set up?

Now, this is not heated. This is purely cool equipment that works perfectly since it will always default to 64 degrees Fahrenheit. And if you’re below that, all you have to do is warm up the space.

But many people believe that 70 degrees and 70 rH are cigar-smoking myths, not reality at all. What you need depends on your environment; you may require 60, 72, or anything in between. You must trial and error smoke your cigars until you figure out what works for you. If you end up having to dry box them ahead of time to get through the burn.audew-150_1

That is, you’re keeping too much. It’s a bit of trial and error, but you’ll figure it out. This does nothing for Rh because it’s simply temperature; you must still place your boveda packs, humidity beads, or whatever humidity-generating material you’re using into the humidor.

Final Thoughts

So, who is it for? It’s for those who require temperature regulation. Many individuals are in a situation where their home or living quarters are kept at 80 degrees Fahrenheit, which is extremely dangerous for cigars, and they need to lower the temperature down into the 60s or 70s.

Whether or not this unit or another unit likes it as far as size is concerned, more importantly. There’s not much else to add. They’re rather basic devices. There are only a few components involved. An electronics board with a cooling, Peltier cooling unit, heatsink, and fan are included.

That’s all there is to it. And the firms have been wonderful about sending out replacement parts when required. I’ve never used Audew, so I don’t know what it’s like.

They’re relatively new, but I don’t have any reason to think they’ll be different from anybody else in that regard. It’s nearly silent. This cooling fan will only come on if the room is completely quiet.

Take it, it is the best gift on X-mas.
